Tasks The main role of the terminologist is to ensure that transcreation Managers and Translators have access to reliable, complete and coherent terminological resources.
Responsibilities The collection and/or creation of terminological resources for all translation projects; Analysis of specific terminological questions on request; The terminologist has to ensure that terminology created at Native complies with the rules and best practices established for each individual client. Terminology training for translators (e.g. training on the software used for terminology work, training on methodology, writing rules etc.); The terminologist may be required to assist in the creation of terminological infrastructures (e.g. definition of the data structure of terminological databases) and in the definition of working methods (e.g. definition of writing rules). |

Academic qualifications University Degree.
Technical skills Excellent, mother-tongue command of one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Swedish, Finish, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch or Danish Good knowledge of at least 2 other working languages above. Knowledge of existing standards in the field of terminology (ISO TC 37, ISO 704, ISO 12620 etc.) is an advantage Experience in terminography; Computer Literacy Knowledge of specialised terminology software, e.g. terminological databases, terminology extraction tools; Excellent knowledge of the internet. Familiarity with web resources (e.g. existing databases and glossaries) and other sources of information (text corpora, newsgroups dedicated to terminological questions etc.); Knowledge of data conversion procedures (e.g. using MS Word macros, PERL scripts etc.). Non-technical skills Right attitude Client focused and a team player Ability to plan and execute work autonomously; Ability to prioritise work; Ability to work under stress and to meet deadlines; Flexibility and adaptability to the needs of the business; Reliability: ability to carry out work on a constantly high level of quality; Receptiveness to innovation: interest in new technologies in the linguistic field. Experience At least 3 years in a similar position for a terminologist who plays a leading role, e.g. as terminology coordinator.; Ideally several years of experience as a translator. |
